Why You NEED to Build Your Non-Music Business Network

Savvy Music Studio
Sara Campbell / Savvy Music Studio

There are tons of non-music business networking opportunities for you at local, national, and world levels. Some of these groups have been around for almost a century while others are brand-new, but they all seem to have the similar focuses: bringing together professionals from different fields so that you can socialize, serve, and network.

So many opportunities for us to grow as business professionals, and yet we as music teachers have a strong tendency to stay within our field.

Ya know, ’cause hanging out with music peeps is just that darn cool.

But networking outside of the music field is important!

SO.   IM. POR. TANT.

When we avoid branching out of the music realm, we miss out out on some really great opportunities to stretch, grow, and build our brands and our business skills. (Not to mention the serious perks that networking can bring to your business… getting your name / face out there to other business owners is super powerful.)

In this broadcast I’m sharing 5 different tips about how we can flex our business muscles by joining networking groups outside of the music field.

Today’s Show Notes:

Places where we should consider networking..

  • Small business associations, such as your local Chamber of Commerce.
  • Women’s Networks. (One of my favs is the eWomenNetwork.)
  • Service clubs like Rotary, Kiwanis, Optimist International, etc.
  • Home-school groups that have vendor funds. (Not available in all US states.)
  • Or if you can’t find the opportunity you want… Make Your Own Group

Remember: you do NOT have to do it all! Pick ONE and get good at it. Make those connections and get yourself out into the business world.

Because YOU are not “just a music teacher.” You’re a business owner.

And if you struggle with embracing your business side? Reach out. ‘Cause that’s what I do. If you’d like to catch the next broadcast live, or if you’d like to get notifications about new broadcasts via Facebook Messenger, hit up the #CoachSaraBot and she’ll add you to my notification list.
